The Ontario Provincial Police would like to remind drivers that going 50 km/hr over the speed limit will result in an automatic charge of stunt driving.
The warning comes after a Scarborough man was stopped by the OPP Monday morning on Hwy. 401 near Comber Side Rd.
Officers with the Chatham-Kent detachment were monitoring speeds with RADAR when they spotted a vehicle going over 150 km/hr. The posted speed limit is 100 km/hr.
The driver has had his license suspended and his vehicle impounded for a week.
The suspension and tow are automatic, but upon conviction the driver could be fined up to $10,000, lose six demerit points, and face up to six months in jail. His license could also be suspended for up to two years, just for the first conviction. A second conviction could mean the loss of a license for up to ten years.
