Chatham-Kent police have charged a 30-year-old Chatham woman for failing to stop for a school bus.
On Wednesday morning, investigators say a black car was caught on the school bus' camera blowing by it while it was stopped on Thames St. in Chatham with its red lights flashing and the stop arm activated. Police say the driver allegedly made no attempt to stop or even slow down.
The Chatham-Kent police encourages all motorists to slow down and pay attention to the rules of the road.
Drivers can be fined $400 to $2,000 and get six demerit points for failing to stop for a stopped school bus that has its red lights flashing. A second conviction within five years has a fine of $1,000 to $4,000 and six demerit points and could jail the driver for up to six months.
