The CP Holiday Train is making a stop in Chatham-Kent this year.
Over the past few years, local residents have only been able to catch a quick glimpse of the train on its way from London to Windsor, but this time, it will be making a brief stop in Chatham.
"We're using the train as a way to wrap-up [Canada's] 150th celebrations for CP," says Spokesperson Mallory McCredie. "So we wanted to extend our reach a bit, and come back to Chatham and give everyone a really great show."
The train is scheduled to arrive behind the John D. Bradley Convention Centre on Richmond St. on Thursday, November 30 at 2:30pm.
According to the CP Holiday Train schedule online, there will be a special event during that stop from 2:45pm to 3:15pm featuring Blue Rodeo founding member Jim Cuddy and his son Devin Cuddy, who fronts the Devin Cuddy Band, along with country music singer Kelly Prescott.
It's not exactly clear when the train will leave Chatham, but its next stop is in Windsor, where it is expected to arrive at 5:20pm on November 30.
"We're hitting 182 communities this year so we have to follow our own rail lines and this is just the way the schedule laid out in order to hit the most communities that we can," she says.
McCredie says they're encourage people who attend the event to bring a donation -- in the form of money or a non-perishable item, that will go directly into the local food bank.
