The Chatham Maroons scored two late goals to push past the Kings in Komoka 3-2 Saturday night.
The win improves the Maroons' record to 4-5 for eight points in the GOJHL Western Conference.
Maroons goaltender Ryan Wagner stopped 36 shots out of the 38 he faced. He says he believes things may be starting to gel for the team.
"I love the team, personally I think we have a really good bond going," says Wagner. "I think we really have a good chance to be something great. As long as we can start being a little bit more consistent, start grinding it out a little bit, I think we can be something special."
Wagner acknowledges that Saturday's game was not Chatham's best.
"It wasn't our best effort consistently, but in the end we ground it out, made big saves, scored on our opportunities," says Wagner.
The Maroons did score first, on a goal by Bryce Yetman at 11:15 in the first period. Chatham had three failed power play chances to Komoka's two.
The Kings evened up the game in the second period, as Peter Cascagnette scored short-handed, then took the lead at just 24 seconds into the third period when Joel Mazzilli found the net.
Graham Spence tied up the game at 5:20 in the third with a goal, and Dane Johnstone scored the eventual game-winner on a penalty shot.
The Maroons welcome the London Nationals to Memorial Arena Sunday night, and Komoka visits St. Marys on Friday.
