The Queen of the Furrow at the 100th International Plowing Match and Rural Expo is Halton's Kailey Donaldson.
The five finalists were asked about how women's role in agriculture has changed since the very first International Plowing Match, and Donaldson's response grew a rousing applause from the crowd. Donaldson cited 2017 IPM Chairperson Jacquie Bishop as an inspiration for women when it comes to the agricultural sector
Donaldson lives with her family on a small hobby farm near Acton. She works at an equipment dealership as a service writer.
Kailey attended Ridgetown College, just east of Chatham-Kent, where the next International Plowing Match will be held, and says she's looking forward to the opportunity to serve as Queen of the Furrow for a plowing match in a region that she's very familiar with.
