All three Ontario party leaders stopped in Walton for the opening day of the International Plowing Match.
Although the rain washed away the Bruce Power parade and horse and tractor plowing, it did not stop people from filling up the main stage area to listen to speeches.
One of the key speaking points afterwards, the minimum wage hike.
"We know that there needs to be some supports in place for this transition," said Premier Kathleen Wynne. "But the bottom line is that people in Ontario who are working full-time have a right to expect they'll be able to look after themselves and their families."
Progressive Conservative leader Patrick Brown said businesses and farmers are concerned about the pace at which this policy is being implemented.
Brown held a round table discussion with farmers at the IPM Tuesday morning.
"A lot of the frustration I heard from farmers at the round table this morning, was not necessarily over the fifteen dollars, it was the pace," said Brown. "And to have some of these new provisions makes their world more difficult."
For NDP leader Andrea Horwath the $15/hr minimum wage is needed.
Her question is why did it take so long to implement.
"I don't know where Kathleen Wynne was when were doing all of that advocacy work, working with folks trying to convince the government that this is the thing to do," said Horwath. "But it's really reprehensible that on the eve of an election that is coming very shortly, that's when this premier decides to wake up and hear the struggles of working people in this province."
The 2018 Provincial Election is scheduled for June 7.
As for the International Plowing Match, the Bruce Power parade will now be held Saturday and the weather forecast for the rest of the week includes a lot more sun, a little cloud and highs of 26 C to 27 C .
