The run to the 2017 Canadian Plowing Championship near Walkerton has begun.
Tiverton's Tom Evans is one of 16 competitors in the field and is competing in the reverse plowing competition.
Chair of the event Byron Monk says it was a good first day on Wednesday.
"The gound is going to plow reasonably well with the moisture that we've had over the summer but it would be nice if it stayed dry overhead for the next three days," said Monk. "This would be the fourth year in a row that a Bruce County plowman and plowed in the competition, so we were eager to take our turn and host it."
The first couple of days are judged but the scores do not count towards the final tally.
The big day will be Friday when the Canadian Championship is held in conjunction with the Bruce County competition.
The weather forecast over the next couple of days will be sun and cloud and cool with highs ranging between 17 C and 20 C.
The Canadian Plowing Championship is on County Road 19 just north of Walkerton.
