UPDATE: Two Men Arrested For Speeding On Hwy. 401

Chatham-Kent OPP has arrested two men for speeding on Hwy. 401.

Friday around 3pm, an officer with a radar gun noticed an eastbound vehicle going over 130 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone near Kent Bridge Rd. in Chatham.

According to police, the vehicle began to accelerate and weave in and out of traffic, almost hitting a pick-up truck. A second radar reading showed the driver had sped up to over 180 km/hr.

33-year-old Quentance Chin from Georgia has been charged with careless driving and speeding.

He is set to appear in court September 20.

Later that same night around 11pm, an officer with a radar gun noticed a vehicle speeding on Hwy. 401 near Mull Rd. in Chatham. Police say the eastbound vehicle exited the construction zone, going over 160 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone.

Police say 28-year-old Bassam Haidara from London, Ontario has been charged with stunt driving.

The driver's licence has been suspended and vehicle will be impounded for a period of seven days.

He is set to appear in court September 20.
