Cooler, Damp Weather Expected For August

Environment Canada is predicting a cool, possibly wet start to August in Southwestern Ontario.

Meteorologist Peter Kimbell says this week's forecast will contrast July's warm streak.

"July was a bit of a 'Goldilocks' month, temperature wise... it was fairly dry, 36 mm, compared to the normal of 93 mm. I suppose we do need rain," says Kimbell.

He says a cold front will begin in the region on Friday.

"Generally speaking, I think the trend is going to be cooler than normal for a little while -- with the exception, of course, of the next couple of days. If you look at the forecast for the long weekend of Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, [it's] 24 C most days and that is a bit below normal," explains Kimbell.

Kimbell says there is a chance of showers in the forecast for most of this week.
