A lengthy wait at the Ambassador Bridge Wednesday for trucks is being blamed on computer problems.
The Detroit International Bridge Company says that United States Customs and Border Protection had been dealing with "national system issues." In a statement, the bridge company says CBP is trying to work around the problems and that they are coordinating with other bridge operators and stakeholders.
Delays at the Ambassador Bridge for commercial vehicles entering the US have been as long as 90 minutes or more Wednesday, though private passenger vehicles have been able to cross the bridge without any significant delays. There have been no significant delays at the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel.
At the Blue Water Bridge in Sarnia, commercial trucks have also experienced significant delays while crossing into Port Huron.
It is not known when the system issues on the American side will be corrected.
