401 Reopens In Chatham-Kent

Two separate crashes forced provincial police to close sections of Hwy. 401 in Chatham-Kent on Sunday.

The first multi-vehicle collision occurred in the eastbound lanes at County Rd 42 around 3:30pm. OPP say five vehicles were been involved.

This marked the second multi-vehicle crash in the area over the weekend, as a chain-reaction crash took place here Friday.

OPP reported that the eastbound lanes were reopened a little after 8:30pm.

Around 5:30pm, OPP reported a multi-vehicle collision in the westbound lanes of Hwy 401 west of Bloomfield Rd in Chatham-Kent. The crash forced the closure of the westbound lanes for several hours.

OPP reports that five vehicles were involved in this collision as well. Two people were airlifted to hospital with potential life-threatening injuries.

All lanes have since re-opened.
