Windsor-Essex's own Kylie Masse will try to add to her medal haul Saturday.
The LaSalle native will participate in the finals of the 200m women's backstroke event at the FINA World Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Masse, the bronze medalist in the 100m backstroke at the 2016 Rio Olympics, has already won gold at the worlds with a record-breaking performance in the 100 m backstroke, and a team bronze in the 4x100m mixed medley.
Masse qualified for the 200m backstroke final by finishing second overall in the semifinal round with a time of 2:05.97, just .16 of a second behind the leader, Australia's Emily Seebohm. Kathleen Baker of the United States finished third, just .69 of a second behind Masse.
Masse will compete in the final with fellow Canadian Hilary Caldwell, who won the bronze medal in this event at the Rio Olympics.
The World Championships run through Sunday.
