K9 Unit Visits CK Cop Camp (GALLERY)

Kids who managed to score a spot in Chatham-Kent's cop camp got a special visit from the K9 Unit.

K9 handler Rick Bertok gave demonstrations with his dog "Arry" on Wednesday and even let some of the kids try on his bite-resistant suit. Arry has been in many competitions and won several awards during his service.

Cop camp, which is currently in its 7th year, is hosted by Chatham-Kent OPP and the Chatham-Kent Police Service. Twenty kids, ranging in age from 12 to 13, are attending this summer's cop camp.

OPP Constable Jay Denorer says this week has been packed with activities to learn more about policing and safety.

"The first day we did a swearing in ceremony. Feedback was very positive. [Tuesday] we had them outside and we were showing the Chatham-Kent police traffic unit, the drone was out. We did a lot of team building activities during the day, the kids really loved it. [At the] end of the day we had a water balloon fight," says Denorer.

Denorer says the campers are have a great time so far.

"They were really getting together as a team... they like playing dodgeball, they love the separation of the teams that way. They just like getting together and working together to accomplish a goal," explains Denorer.

This year's week of cop camp began on Monday and runs until Friday at the Chatham-Kent Children's Safety Village.
