Petition For Thamesville Crossing Will Push On

The railway crossing on Hwy. 21 in Thamesville is reportedly causing a major headache for Chatham-Kent residents.

One person particularly fed up with it is Cindy Kominek. She recently started a petition in hopes that CN Rail would fix the problem.

"There are giant potholes on them, they are lifted a bit," she says. "I've popped a tire on them on a brand new truck."

BlackburnNews.com reached out to CN Rail regarding the petition and were told that the crossing will be addressed by the end of the year.

"This crossing is scheduled for a complete rehabilitation before the end of this construction season," CN Rail says in an email.

However, Kominek says she is proceeding as planned with the petition, adding that she won't stop until she sees the problem fixed.

"I don't want to see anybody else get hurt on them," she says. "I know that people have said that their cars get eaten by the tracks basically -- they have parts falling off of them."

Kominek has posted the petition online, but also left copies at a post office in Thamesville and at the Esso gas station on Hwy. 21. by Hwy. 401.

Meanwhile, CN Rail says concerns or questions regarding the crossing can be called in at 1888-888-5909 or via email to contact@cn.ca.
