The Sydenham Campus of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is welcoming $1.88-million in funding for repairs and upgrades.
And officials say there are a number of areas that can use the money in Wallaceburg.
"The emergency power, the boiler system, and some of the other mechanical systems in the hospital that certainly need some attention," says CKHA Chief Financial Officer Jerome Quenneville. "We're continuing to work with them to see where the best investment might be."
Quenneville says the money for Wallaceburg is welcome news.
"It certainly helps to confirm their continued commitment to make sure that we've got a safe operating environment in Wallaceburg for our facility. And certainly we're looking to invest this money and trying to address some of the major system frailties as well," he says.
The Chatham campus is also getting some money for upgrades.
"There's actually a transformer upgrade that's ongoing, we actually started part of the work this past year," says Quenneville. "This current year's investment of about $600,000, is really going to help finish that project, and just do a couple other small things of repairs within the facility as well."
The money is from the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund, which helps hospitals make critical improvement to their facilities.
