Lynn McGeachy)The new animal shelter in Chatham is one step closer to becoming a reality thanks to another big donation.
The Howard J. Rees Foundation handed over $50,000 on Wednesday to the Friends of the New Animal Shelter.
That puts them well past the 50% mark of their fundraising goal.
Construction of the new shelter should begin next spring across from the current facility on Park Ave. in Chatham. When the new facility is completed, it will be turned over to the municipality.
They were produced during an intense storm last Saturday afternoon.
