A severe thunderstorm watch for Windsor-Essex has ended, along with the severe thunderstorm warning in effect for Chatham-Kent.
Environment Canada has kept the watch in effect for Thursday morning. The weather agency says severe thunderstorms were expected to move east across southwestern Ontario, possibly packing wind gusts of up to 90 km/h and heavy rain.
Environment Canada is also reminding people to protect themselves from the potential dangers caused by intense storms.
"Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes," it says. "Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors."
