A local teen is getting the opportunity of her dreams, to learn from the Radio City Rockettes.
Shelby Lee Olmsted, 15, has been accepted into an intense dance summer camp where she'll train for a week at the Radio City Music Hall.
"We're learning some of the Rockettes actual routines that they do and we'll be learning some of the training they do [as well]," she says.
The invitation to the exclusive camp came after Olmsted auditioned in Detroit in February.
"I'm very excited and honoured that they picked me to go to their camp," she says. "It's invitation only so I was very excited to get the invitation to go."
Olmsted currently trains at Pure Academy, adding that she's been a dancer since she was three-years-old. She says this opportunity puts her one step closer to the future she wants as a dancer.
"I feel like this will help me to get to know them and how they train and I can continue to do some of their training at home to be a stronger dancer," she says.
Olmsted and her mother will head to New York City on July 24.
