Upwards of $20,000 in cash and prizes in on the line at this weekend's Canadian Tire Mitchell's Bay Open Bass Tournament.
"We have 60 boats showing up this year, it's our biggest field of competitors yet," says co-chair Tom Beaton of the two-day live release tournament. "We certainly invite the public to come out to the bay. Weigh-ins start at 3pm each day, and catch some excitement of professional bass fishing in Lake St. Clair."
Beaton says 50% of the anglers come from outside of Chatham-Kent.
"The word's out that this is one of Canada's premier events, and that speaks volumes for attracting anglers who want to fish quality events," he says.
The tournament kicks off on Friday, and wraps up on Saturday. For more information, CLICK HERE.
"100% of the anglers' entry fee goes back into the prize money pot," says Beaton. "On top of that we have a number of sponsors that kick in prizes, so 120% of the revenue that comes in by way of entry fees goes back to the anglers."
