Phil Collins Falls, Shows Postponed

Iconic rock singer and former Genesis frontman Phil Collins has cancelled shows scheduled for Thursday and Friday night after a bad fall.

Collins returned to the stage for the first time in ten years earlier this week with a five-night booking at Royal Albert Hall in London, England.

A statement from Royal Albert Hall reads, "Phil suffers from drop foot as a result of a back operation which makes it difficult to walk. He rose in the middle of the night to go to the toilet and slipped in his hotel room, hitting his head in the fall on a chair."

The statement says Collins suffered a severe gash on his head and received treatment at the hospital. He is under 24 hours observation but is said to be recovering well.

The shows have been rescheduled for November 26 and 27.

Collins is considered one of the most successful artists of his generation with 100-million record sales to his name. He took over as the frontman of the English rock band, Genesis following the departure of Peter Gabriel. Some reports suggest members of the band had been discussing a reunion.
