Camp Vincent Needs Help Sending Kids to Camp

After getting its government funding slashed, Camp Vincent in Bothwell needs support from the community to send kids in need to camp.

Camp administrator Lisa Diesbourg has been receiving several calls daily with requests from families asking for financial help to send their kids to camp.

With lack of funding from the government and local churches unable to help, many underprivileged children may be left out.

"I receive daily between five and ten phone calls or emails asking for sponsorship or financial help to some degree to get their kids to camp and it breaks my heart that I have to say that my funding has been cut," says Diesbourg.

Camp Vincent is asking the community to help sponsor campers.

"We are just hoping that some people can find it in their hearts to help get these kids to camp, because for some kids this is their only break," says Diesbourg.

For Diesbourg, no child should miss out on camp because of money issues.

"It's just a great place. I think everybody at some point at time should experience it, and I think every child deserves a week at camp," she says.

The subsidized cost for sending a child to camp is $270. Those interested in donating or sponsoring a camper can visit Camp Vincent's website.
