Southwestern Ontario continues to dry out from up to three days of steady rainfall.
Rainfall totals are becoming more known from the wet week. The soaking rain was due to a series of slow moving low-pressure systems that have since moved on to eastern Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
While the rainfall event was nowhere near as severe as the rain in September 2016, which caused heavy flooding in portions of the region, the rain resulted in rising water on rivers and lakes and some flooding in areas.
Official totals were reported in Windsor, London, Chatham and Sarnia. Windsor Airport measured 48.6mm Friday afternoon. Chatham reported a rainfall total of 51.5mm as of 8pm Friday. Elsewhere, London Airport observed a total of 46.9mm, and Sarnia Airport recorded 35mm.
Volunteer observations, albeit unofficial, were performed throughout Windsor-Essex, according to Environment Canada. Lakeshore appeared to be the wettest with 69.4mm of rain fallen by 6pm Friday. Kingsville reported 46.4mm as of Friday afternoon. The most recent observation came from LaSalle, with 47mm of rain fallen by 10am Saturday.
