Chatham-Kent's emergency responders are about to go head-to-head in physically demanding challenges -- but it's all in good fun.
A fundraising event called "Clash of the Sirens," will pin first responders up against each other in a series of job-related challenges.
Chatham-Kent police media relations officer Kelly Helbin says there are about eight teams, which are made up of Chatham-Kent OPP, police, EMS, and fire personnel.
"We'll compete against one another for hopefully a little bit of bragging rights," she says.
As for what those "job-related exercises" are, first responders are being kept in the dark when it comes to details.
"Josh and Nathan Blair [of Blairs' Bootcamp] are putting the whole fitness aspect of it together for us," says Helbin. "Anyone who is competing is just going to be showing up that day and will not know what those exercises are until we get there."
Money raised from the event will go towards Chatham-Kent Victim Services.
"We [as emergency first responders] utilize a lot of their programs throughout all of Chatham-Kent," she says. "We've seen it in other municipalities and we have yet to do something like that around this area so we just thought it would be kind of fun."
Members are welcome to watch Clash of the Sirens. It'll take place on May 13 at the Healthplex in Chatham from 9am-12pm.
