Maroons Eliminated In Crushing 6-1 Loss To London

The Chatham Maroons have been eliminated from the GOJHL playoffs in Game 5, following a 6-1 loss to the London Nationals on Thursday.

The Nationals jumped into the lead quickly with a goal 1:44 into the game, and another after 12:22. London scored another three back-to-back goals in the second period to take a 5-0 lead over Chatham.

London started off the final frame with a goal 20 seconds into the period. Chatham was finally make it onto the board thanks to a goal by Michael Douglas, with just under eight minutes left in the game. However, the Nationals were able to hold Chatham back to end the game with a five goal advantage.

"We did well the last five or six games of the season against St. Thomas and it's a different series here," says Maroons Head Coach Ron Horvat. "You try to tweak things, but it's tough. I think at the end of the day we knew our kids, but it just didn't work out for us."

The Nationals won the best-of-seven semi final series 4-1.

London now moves on to the Western Conference Championship to battle the Leamington Flyers.
