Packing A Lunch For Hundreds

Volunteers are needed for the 17th annual Box Lunch fundraiser held by Community Living Wallaceburg.

The annual fundraiser is used to bring attention and funds to the services the organization offers to over 400 people with disabilities.

Lisa Caron, communications and fund development specialist for Community Living Wallaceburg, says the freshly made lunches are valued at $10 and include a choice of sandwich, coleslaw, fruit, cookie and beverage. The lunches will also be delivered in a reusable lunch pail.

"We're actually looking for volunteers to help us assemble the lunches on the morning of April 6," says Caron. "We're also looking for volunteers to assist us with driving, and we also have the orders open for the community to purchase the lunches."

She adds the fundraiser has proven to be popular, receiving anywhere from 1,500 to 1,600 orders from Wallaceburg and surrounding areas.

"We do deliver within the community wide," says Caron. "We go as far as Ridgetown, Blenheim, Tilbury and even further into Lambton -- we're willing to deliver."

Community Living Chatham-Kent held its event March 9, where volunteers delivered 1660 Subway lunches.
