Police: One Gunman At Quebec City Mosque

Provincial police in Quebec say there was just one shooter at a Quebec City mosque where six people were killed on Sunday night.

Surete du Quebec initially said two people were taken into custody after the tragic incident at the Centre Culturel Islamique de Québec.

On Monday, police confirmed that one person is a suspect, the other is a witness.

TVA has identified the witness as Mohamed Belkhadir.

According to the RCMP in Quebec, the suspect, Alexandre Bissonnette, has been charged with six counts of first degree murder and five counts of attempted murder.

The victims, according to police, were men between the ages of 39 and 60.

The attack happened as men gathered at the mosque for evening prayers.

Mohamed Labidi, the vice-president of the Centre Culturel Islamique de Quebec, told the Montreal Gazette that some of the victims were shot in the back.
