Police Nab Railway Trespasser

A 31-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after officers spotted someone riding a bike along railway tracks in Chatham.

Officers on patrol say they saw a man wearing camouflage clothing riding a bicycle along the tracks toward Raleigh St., at around 12am Monday morning. Police say the man tried to get away from them, but they found him hiding in some bushes.

When officers searched the man's backpack, they found a cordless saw, a battery, a battery charger, a flashlight, and some binoculars.

A 31-year-old was arrested at the scene and has been charged with trespassing and possession of break and enter tools. He has been released with a future court date.
