Officials with the municipality say flags outside of municipal buildings in Chatham-Kent have been lowered to half-staff Monday to honour the six people who were shot and killed at a mosque in Quebec City on Sunday.
“We extend our condolences to the victims of the Quebec City mosque shooting," Mayor Randy Hope said in a statement. “The residents of Chatham-Kent stand with all Canadians in deploring the use of violence.”
In nearby London, residents are being invited to show solidarity with those affected by the shooting by gathering at the London Muslim Mosque at 12pm.
The mosque will host prayers at 12:45pm and Imam Tawakkal has issued an open invitation for anyone who would like to observe prayer to join at that time.
