Presteve Foods Gets The Go-Ahead

Presteve Foods Limited will be expanding, which is good news for West Kent.

The fish processing company had put forward a proposal during Monday night's council meeting, requesting to add two steel structures to their location in Wheatley.

Chatham-Kent Council supported the proposal in a unanimous vote.

The company says it will now be looking to hire 25 new employees this year and possibly 75 more people in the future.

West Kent Councillor Bryon Fluker says he's pleased with how the vote went, adding it's exciting for the community. he says Presteve Foods is the second company to recently announce an expansion in the area.

"Certainly with the expansion of H & H Wood Products which is going to take place -- that's another 25 jobs, so I'm feeling very very positive about the whole Wheatley, West Kent area this year," says Fluker.

The expansion will happen in two phases. There's no word as to when Presteve Foods will be accepting applications.
