Trump Era Begins, Pledges 'America First'

Donald Trump is now officially leader of the free world.

He was sworn in as the 45th president of the United States by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts Jr., Friday afternoon.

Barack and Michelle Obama departed Washington aboard a marine helicopter following Trump's inaugural address, in which he promised policies -- from trade to taxes -- that put Americans first.

"We will bring back our jobs. We will bring back our borders. We will bring back our wealth. And we will bring back our dreams," he said in a stark warning to other countries. "We will follow two simple rules; buy American and hire American."

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted his congratulations.

"Canada and the United States have built one of the closest relationships between any two countries in the world," Trudeau said in a statement. "This enduring partnership is essential to our shared prosperity and security."

Trump then sat down for his first lunch as president.
