Kitchen Fire Causes $10K In Damages

Unattended cooking is getting the blame for a house fire in Thamesville.

The Chatham-Kent fire department responded to the home on Stage Rd. on Thursday around 1:50pm.

Fire officials say the homeowner left something cooking on the stove and was in his garage when the fire started. The homeowner stayed outside when he noticed smoke coming from the home, and called 911.

Fire crews arrived on scene shortly after and were able to quickly extinguish the blaze.

No injuries have been reported.

Damaged, which was contained to the kitchen, is estimated at around $10,000.
