Two Men Get Nabbed For Stunt Driving In Chatham-Kent

Chatham-Kent OPP officers have charged two men with stunt driving.

Officers were conducting radar enforcement on Hwy. 401 near Kent Bridge Rd. on Saturday when a vehicle was spotted speeding at more than 150 km/h.

Then on Monday, another vehicle was clocked doing in excess of 130 km/h at St Clair Rd. near Greenvalley Line.

A 19-year-old male driver from Brant County and a 20-year-old male driver from Chatham have been charged.

Their driver’s licences have been suspended and their vehicles will be impounded for seven days.

The OPP says upon first conviction, drivers face fines of $2,000 to $10,000, six demerit points, up to six months jail and up to two years licence suspension.

For a second conviction within ten years, driver’s licences are suspended for up to ten years.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
