Auto Service Company Drivers Ratify New Deal

Drivers at an auto service company's Windsor operation have ratified a new contract agreement.

Members of Unifor Local 444 have approved a three-year contract with Auto Warehousing Company Canada.  Two vote meetings were held Sunday morning.

Chute workers approved the deal with 78.6% in favour, while Drive-away and TPT members said yes to the deal with 89.2% of the vote.

The company has facilities across Canada and the United States, with corporate headquarters in Washington State and regional offices in Dearborn, Michigan and in California.  AWC's Canadian operations include two facilities in Windsor, plus in Alliston, Ingersoll and Oshawa, Ont, as well as in Vancouver.

Workers in Windsor help transport newly-made minivans from the Chrysler Assembly Plant to dealers and customers.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
