Numbers Down For Home James

Home James has wrapped up its season in Chatham-Kent with unusually low numbers.

Program Coordinator Jodie Hogg says their numbers for ridership and volunteers for the designated driving program are much lower than last year.

Hogg says the designated driver service raised around $10,000 this holiday season. That's a few thousand less than last year's fundraising total, which eclipsed $14,000.

Organizers aren't sure why their numbers are so low, but it's something they'll be discussing in the near future.

"We're hoping to get together as a committee and brainstorm to see if we can get things going a little sooner," Hogg says. "To try and get it out there earlier as well, hopefully get some more volunteers."

However, New Year's Eve did bring in its usual numbers in terms of volunteers and rides.

"We did pretty close to what we did last year on New Year's," says Hogg. "Last year we did 111 rides, this year we did 97."

Moving forward, Hogg says they're hoping to see their numbers go back up the next holiday season.
