Agri-Businesses Receive Provincial Recognition

Local agri-food businesses in the Chatham-Kent, Essex County region are being recognized by the province.

Dresden's Van Arkel Farms Limited, Leamington's Orangeline Farms, and Raymont's Berries in Cottam are among the recipients of the 2016 Premier's Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence.

The award recognizes those who strengthen and contribute to the agri-food sector and boost economic growth.

The recipients were honoured during a ceremony in London, on Monday.

The other recipients from Southwestern Ontario include: Asparagus Farmers of Ontario, Blueberry Hill, Blueberry Hill Estates, Creekside Growers, Meadow Lynn Farms, and Talbot Road Poultry.

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
