The Chatham Maroons dropped a 3-2 decision to LaSalle Vipers on Wednesday for their first loss in six games.
Alec Mackenzie scored to give Chatham a 1-0 lead just before the end of the first period. However, the Vipers were able to take a 2-1 advantage in the second, thanks to goals by Daniel Beaudoin and Brett Primeau.
Beaudoin scored his second of the night 6:55 into the third to further LaSalle's lead. Braden Henderson scored as well with just under ten minutes left in the game to put the Maroons within one goal. The Vipers held off Chatham until the buzzer to earn the win.
Maroons forward Teddy McGeen says it was a hard fought game against a good team.
"I think at the end of the day, a 3-2 loss to the best team in the league, that's going to happen in the course of a year and we're hoping by playoff time we're ready to make sure that doesn't happen," he says.
The Vipers will head to Sarnia on Thursday to take on the Legionnaires at 7:10pm. And then on Saturday, the Maroons travel to take on the Strathroy Rockets at 7:30pm.
