Phosphorus runoff and property assessments will both be hot topics at the Kent Federation of Agriculture's annual general meeting on Thursday.
KFA President Ron Faubert says they'll have speakers coming in to discuss those issues, including Ivan O'Hallaran from the University of Guelph who studies runoff in Lake Erie.
"[Ivan] does a lot of research in that particular area and he's going to share that information with us and answer some questions," says Faubert.
The KFA is also bringing in OFA Policy Researcher Tina Schankula to talk about Lake Erie Phosphorus.
As for property assessments, the KFA is bringing in OFA researcher Ben Lefort to address that topic.
"[Ben] will assist people in possibly doing a request for reconsideration if they're not happy with their assessment values," says Faubert, adding they will also have a representative from MPAC on hand. "That will give us a good breakdown on the policies and procedures so that people can ask some pointed questions on how they come up with their evaluations on farm properties."
The meeting is being held at the University of Guelph's Ridgetown Campus starting with lunch at 12pm for those who pre-registered.
Elections will take place after lunch and several awards and scholarships will be handed out at that time.
Natasha Lugtigheid, Sarah Campbell, and Elyse Kilbride will all be receiving KFA Scholarship awards.
Bill Parks will be honoured with the KFA Meritorious Award and Ron Faubert will receive the Ed Campbell Memorial award.
