Work Delayed At Sandys And McNaughton

Motorists who use Sandys St. or McNaughton Ave. to get around Chatham will have to deal with construction a little while longer.

Work started to resurface the intersection last week, resulting in lane closures in multiple directions.

Infrastructure Services Manager Chris Thibert says the wet weather has limited the crew's ability to complete the project.

"We are anticipating, with the forecast coming up, we are going to be getting out there to finish up the asphalt late this week or the beginning of next week," says Thibert. "We should complete the project mid to late next week."

Thibert adds they've also had to prioritize other projects to ensure they get all their work done in time, as winter presents other challenges for the workers.

"With asphalt works being very temperature and weather sensitive, we're definitely prioritizing and pushing as quickly as possible. But we're still insuring quality and safety is met," says Thibert.

The work was slated to be complete November 16.
