$150K In Damages Following House Fire

Damage is estimated at around $150,000 after a fire broke out in a Chatham home.

Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services says on Wednesday around 4:40pm, firefighters were called to 102 Gray St. to battle the blaze. Due to the way the home was constructed, fire was able to spread unseen in the walls and additional fire stations were called into assist. An aerial ladder truck was used to ensure that the fire was extinguished.

An unknown number of residents were home at the time of the fire and had to be treated by paramedics. A dog was also rescued from the home by firefighters and treated with a pet oxygen mask.

Fire officials say the blaze is believed to have been accidental, but the exact cause is unknown at this time.
