EQAO Will Mark Online Literacy Tests

Students at the Lambton Kent District School Board who passed their online literacy tests this fall won't have to write the test again in the spring.

A letter from the LKDSB's Director of Education Jim Costello says the board has received word from the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) that any students in the LKDSB who managed to complete the test online will have their results marked and returned.

The results are expected to be sent to schools in mid-January 2017.

Costello's letter says the board appreciates "the resiliency our students and staff demonstrated through the process" adding they are "satisfied with EQAO's solution to this issue."

EQAO cancelled the online test in October after an apparent cyber attack, but a number of students at the LKDSB were still able to complete the test before it was shut down.

Costello's letter also says that students who were not able to access the testing site, who didn't have the opportunity to complete the test, or who were not successful will still be considered first-time eligible to write the test in March 2017.

That means even students who failed the online test will get another shot at writing it in the spring.
