Several former NHL all-stars will be lacing up their skates at Memorial Arena in Chatham Saturday night.
They'll be facing off against the Chatham-Kent Knight Sticks in a fundraising game with the proceeds going to support Special Olympics Ontario.
Nicole McAlpine, event coordinator for Law Enforcement Torch Run, says a star-studded lineup is expected to be on hand.
"We have guys like Brent Gretzky and Todd Harvey, big player Ken Houston, Al Iafrate, Mike Krushelynski, Pat Ribble, the Rick Vaive, Tiger Williams, Jason Woolley," says McAlpine.
More on some of the stars headlining this year's game:
- Dave "Tiger" Williams (best known for his role as an enforcer, he currently holds the NHL record for most career penalty minutes)
- Rick Vaive (scored 50+ goals in three consecutive seasons and was named an NHL All Star from 1982-1984)
- Al Iafrate (best known for his extremely hard slap shot, Iafrate set the record for the hardest shot during the NHL Skills Competition in 1993 -- that record stood for 16 years)
- Brent Gretzky (brother of Wayne Gretzky -- Brent also spent a brief stint in the NHL after a very successful run with the Belleville Bulls in the OHL)
- Ken Houston (born in Dresden, Ken played seven seasons for the Atlanta (and later Calgary) Flames in the 1970s and early 1980s before playing a few seasons with Washington and Los Angeles to finish his career)
Walter Gretzky will be manning the bench for the Alumni team.
The doors open at 5pm at Memorial Arena and the game starts at 6pm.
