FINA is adding its World Aquatics Convention to the list of events Windsor will host this December, expanding the economic impact of the World Swimming Championships.
Executive Director Cornel Marculescu says delegates and trainers from 175 of their 207 member countries will be at the three-day convention.
"We bring them together with all the businesses [in the swimming industry]," he describes. "From timing to pool construction, preparation centres and pool equipment."
Marculescu says there will also be talks on sports medicine, training, anti-doping, and a special award ceremony for American swimmer Michael Phelps.

The Executive Director explains that Phelps has helped grow swimming worldwide, and made it the most watched sport at the last two summer Olympic Games.
The City of Windsor plans to study the economic impact of both the Convention and the swimming championships through December.
Mayor Dilkens says the convention, which runs from December 3-5 at Caesars Windsor adds at least another 2,000 hotel room nights, which will be an automatic boost to the local economy.
