Students from French school boards across southwestern Ontario are celebrating Franco-Ontarian Flag Day.
Grade 8 student at School Monseigneur Augustin Caron in Windsor Ryan Corazza says he and his fellow classmates look forward to this day every year.
"If you look at the history books and all that, it's such an interesting story," he explains. "We've been invaded so many times, the English invaded us, and we still kept our French culture [in Canada]. I just think that's really cool."
Even though his parents aren't French, Corazza says he's grateful they enrolled him in the French school board because he thinks it's important to know a second language and to learn about French-Canadian culture.
The Franco-Ontarian flag was raised at Windsor City Hall, Thursday morning.
A similar ceremony was held in Chatham.
