Maroons Fall 6-2 To Vipers

The LaSalle Vipers scored a 6-2 victory over the Chatham Maroons in Junior B hockey action on Wednesday.

The Vipers were quick to take a 2-0 advantage in the first period, and then extend their lead to 6-2 in the second.  Neither team scored in the third as LaSalle held off Chatham to earn the win.

Manny Silverio led the Vipers with a hat-trick, while Cale Allen, Frank Zak and Daniel Beaudoin all scored once.

Austin Thompson and Bobby Harrison scored the two goals for Chatham.

Maroons head coach Brian Verbeek says there were a number of things his team did very well, despite the loss. However, they have a lot to work on.

"Back in practice [Thursday] night, go through systems again and again until the kids get comfortable with it," he says. "A lot of these systems are new to the kids and they haven't seen this type of hockey before."

The Vipers are set to take on the Stars on Friday in St. Thomas at 7:30pm, and then on Sunday, the Maroons return home to battle the Leamington Flyers at 7pm.
