Following this year's success, Chatham-Kent Leamington MP Dave Van Kesteren is already planning to have more passport clinics in his riding.
"We do two in Chatham, then we split the rest in Tilbury, Leamington, Blenheim and Ridgetown, and that's the intent: to do it again next year," says Van Kesteren. "We start usually in April, and we run them run until September."
Van Kesteren's staff and volunteers help walk attendees through the passport process, helping them to fill out forms, taking their pictures, and checking the applications before they're sent off.
Van Kesteren says over the eight years the program has run, he's seen a change in who attends the clinics.
"We're seeing now, more than anything else, renewals. The first-time passports are at a decline," says Van Kesteren.
This year, each of the clinics saw anywhere from 40 to 350 attendees.
