Tomato Growers Catch Up With Growing Forward 2 Program

Some good news for Ontario's tomato growers.

Select Food is set to manufacture French's ketchup.

The paste for the condiment will be bought from Highbury Canco in Leamington.

President and Owner of Select Food Andrew Mitchell broke the news last week as part of the Growing Forward 2 announcement in North York.

Ontario Minister of Agriculture Jeff Leal was on hand with Federal Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister, Lawrence MacAuley to announce a 4.6 million dollar investment into Toronto area food processors.

350,000 dollars is going to Select Food for its Enterprise Resource Planning system.

The change to Select's research and production will allow them to start producing the French's-brand ketchup some time next year.
