Plenty Of Ways To Watch The Hip

Just because you missed out on getting tickets for the Tragically Hip's final tour, that doesn't mean you have to miss their final show.

There will be at least three opportunities in Chatham-Kent to watch the concert live tonight as it is re-broadcast across the big screen.

First, there is a "Live Band Charity Drive" taking place in Tecumseh Park in Chatham today from 4-8pm that will lead up to a broadcast of the concert on a massive 22 ft. by 12.6 ft. LED screen.

The Hip Concert is tentatively scheduled to run from about 8:30pm to 11:30pm.

The event in Tecumseh Park is admission by donation with all of the proceeds going towards the Chatham-Kent Hospice as well as the Sunnybrook Foundation.

At the same time, the Chatham Capitol Theatre in downtown Chatham will also be live-streaming the Tragically Hip concert.

That event is also admission by donation, but at this venue, all of the funds will be split between The Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research and Chatham-Kent Victim Services.

The Capitol Theatre event will start at 4pm with live bands performing in the parking lot at Frendz restaurant and lounge on King St. and in the theatre starting at 4pm.

The third venue in Chatham-Kent that's coming on board to show the event.

The Boonies Drive-In Theatre on Richardson Side Rd. in Tilbury is teaming up with the Tilbury Kinsmen to show the concert on its big screen with two movies to follow that.

The Drive-In will open at 5pm with live local music and food vendors on site. The concert is free to attend, but anyone who wants to stay for the movies afterwards will have to purchase a ticket.

And if you're up for driving a bit further, Sarnia will be holding a massive celebration marking The Hip's final concert.

At this point, it's not clear exactly how many people will be showing up for the re-broadcast at Canatara Park, but it’s expected to be in the thousands.

That event will begin at 6pm with the broadcast starting at 8:30pm.
