Certified Sites Program Expanding

The Ministry of Economic Development is making improvements to a program that aims to attract new industrial businesses to the province.

The Certified Site program has been running for 18 months and lists sites that are ready for development.

"It gives potential investors easy access to important property information which gives them peace of mind that a site is ready to go," says Minister Brad Duguid.

He says they've listened to municipalities and made improvements to the program.

"We're expanding eligibility for the program to include smaller sites within businesses in industrial parks, not just large industrial lands that are 10 acres or more," says Duguid.

They are also offering more reimbursements for municipalities and creating a pre-application consultation program.

Duguid announced the enhancements at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario 2016 conference in Windsor.
