Province Investing In Delaware Nation

The provincial government says it's creating economic growth and jobs in the Thamesville-area, by investing in a local First Nation.

The province is investing $197,000 in the Delaware Nation Moravian of the Thames community.

The money is being made available through the Aboriginal Economic Development Fund over two years, to help the community implement its strategic economic development plan.

Provincial officials say the investment will, in turn, help get two major projects off the ground -- a business centre and a nature trail.

They say it will also increase the First Nation's capacity to work with private sector partners to diversify their local economy.
