Cyclists Capitalize On Connecting Trails

Trails officials say cyclists are taking full advantage of Essex-Kent's interconnecting trails.

This week 150 cyclists made their way from Pelee Island up through Chatham-Kent as part of a waterfront tour on Tecumseh Trail.

Chatham-Kent Trails Committee President Diane Fluke says they hope to extend their network even further using the former CASO rail line.

"We would really like to own the other half so we can develop that. That will go all the way to Tecumseh in Windsor right through to St. Thomas," says Fluke. "So we have some long-distance cycling places we can offer."

Fluke adds they also want to make a section of Tecumseh Trail part of their Round The River Route. She says they hope to secure grants from the Canada 150 Fund to support both projects soon.
